Total GRDI funding: $10,656,000

The GRDI supports multi-omics research at the Aquatic and Crop Resource Development (ACRD) Research Centre aimed at modeling simulated environments and plant designs to tailor crops important to Canada for future climate environments. This includes 'omics' research undertaken as part of the Sustainable Protein Production (SPP) program, which supports the Protein Industries Canada (PIC) global innovation cluster activities and delivers on NRC's commitment to the success of Canada's global innovation clusters, Federal government priorities, and partnerships with industry and other stakeholders. The GRDI also supports 2 ACRD strategic pillars: Genomics and Climate Resilient Crops, which focuses on improving the climate resiliency of essential Canadian crops; and Controlled Environment Agriculture systems, which encompasses technology and infrastructure to evaluate new plants under controlled conditions simulating environmental conditions associated with climate change.
